Horses with a history of problem feet need more than biotin alone to promote the re-growth of strong healthy hooves, certain amino acids, trace elements and vitamins are required. Sumo Hoof Complex provides all the necessary nutrients required for sound healthy hoof growth.

Collagen is a protein which is a major constituent and has a high concentration of the amino acids, glycine and praline within its structure. These in conjunction with methionine and lysine are essential for collagen formation. Tyrosine is involved in the formation of the growth hormone thyroxin which is essential for regulating growth and metabolism. All these amino acids are present in Sumo Hoof Complex.

The trace elements copper and zinc are involved in many biochemical processes within the body. Zinc is essential for cell re-growth, particularly epithelial cells and for the keratinisation of hoof and hair. Copper is involved with the metabolism of the sulphur amino acids which are needed for the formation of strong connective tissues which are found in hoof and hair. Both these trace elements are found in a chelated form in Sumo Hoof Complex for optimum bioavailability.

Certain fat metabolites are present in all membranes and are necessary for hoof and hair strength. In order for these to be synthesised and transported around the body key nutrients, such as chlorine and biotin are required and are included in Sumo Hoof Complex together with vegetable oils to provide a source of essential fatty acids.

Vitamin C has been shown to be reduced in stressed animals and is included to aid the horse in gaining maximum benefit from Sumo Hoof Complex, the base of which is full fat soya for maximum palatability and easy mixing into feed.
