A Fantastic start to the event season – Charlotte Clewlow

March seems to have been a month of babies, 4yr old Katie whom I backed in January went home for a break after her first show jump outing. Her owners Spring Stud sent 5 yr old 16.3hh Pippa over who was being weaned from her foal and backed, she has a lovely temperament and is progressing well.

4yr old Aria 15.2hh Chestnut Mare also came in for 4 weeks to be re- backed and taken hacking, she is a lovely girl who took everything in her stride and should progress well for her owner.

Fly another 4 year old 16.2hh mare has also arrived for a few weeks to be re-backed, hacked, schooled and jumped all depending on her progress, She has had her first hack and was a very good girl.

Paddy has been my main man this month, he has been very busy with a couple of runs up the gallops, some British Showjumping with a 4th in the Discovery, a dressage outing resulting in a 1st in the prelim and 2nd in his first novice. All this was to set him up for Stafford BE event.

A 4am alarm call was necessary for Stafford (these are the times when I think I must be mad!!), with the yard sorted we left at 6am! Thankfully there was no rain although it was bitter cold. Paddy did a lovely acurate dressage test for 20.5 – judge’s remark “Beautiful!- relaxed, supple & rhythmical” !! He then jumped a fantastic clear show jumping and skipped round the cross country  (I decided to try using a watch on the x country phase – good job I did otherwise we would have been too quick!!) to finish on his Dressage score and win the class – this is also a personal best for me!! Fed on Rowen Barbary ReadyMash!

Joey is extremely bored and getting quite demanding – he just loves attention, It takes twice as long to muck him out as anyone else as I have to spend time playing with him – I also make the time to give him a fuss and groom him every day, not a hardship as I love spending time with him. He is looking great now and goes for another x ray next week – fingers crossed for good news.

Due to the need to expand slightly I have relocated to Fox Moss in Nantwich and now have a vacancy for a British Eventing ride to compete this season. Your horse will receive the ultimate care and will be produced to perform at their highest ability and level. As the horses are based at my family run yard I am able to provide extremely competitive rates and ensure that each horse is produced with meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of its management, making eventing more accessible and enjoyable for the owner. My yard is based on the Cheshire/Staffordshire/Shropshire border, within easy reach of some of the best competition and training venues in the UK.
